F1 in Hungary was a Rollercoaster for everyone involved

This weekend was a walk in the park for some, and for others, I'm sure they couldn't wait for it to end.

For starters, the big headline was the goodbye to the worst car on this year's grid, the Aston-Martin, and hello to its B-spec car.

This new car proved well for Aston, as Fernando Alonso made Q2 on merit, not like in Canada sprint qualifying. And in the race, the pair of Alonso and Lance Stroll finished 13th & 14th, Stroll finishing ahead of Alonso on the road.

The other team with a great weekend was McLaren... well at least half of the garage. Lando Norris took his first pole position of the season and after grid penalties Oscar Piastri was 3rd. Piastri then took the lead on lap 1 and held that lead for a majority of the first stint.

When he first stopped, it was on him to keep up with Norris's pace from the front, however when he reached lapped traffic, things took a turn for the worst. Coming out of turn 3, Carlos Sainz, who was mid battle with Fernando Alonso and shown a multitude of blue flags on the way to the turn, turned right into Piastri, sending Piastri off the road with damage while Sainz stayed ahead of him until turn 8.

Piastri was furious and in a censored radio message said:

"Get out of the f---ing way you idiot! Oh my god,"

And after Norris successfully undercut him, his race engineer then radioed to him:

"Oscar, that's Sainz who cost us that cost us that"

To which Piastri replied:

“Mate, just don’t f---ing talk to me now,

Nice of you guys to factor that one in by the way, thanks,”

Only for a few laps later his gearbox broke and he pulled over to retire the car.

Sainz after the race tried to defend his case by saying the blue flag system on his dash didn't work, which it did, however the flag panels around track were still active and his race engineer even warned him about Piastri before the incident.

Piastri's teammate Norris took a commanding win over Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli, who, like his team, did not have the weekend they wanted.

Since the Hungaroring is a very energy efficient circuit, there is no real difference in the engines, so it came down to which team had the best aero, and we learned that team is McLaren, and the majority of the Mercedes impact comes from the engine.

Otherwise the rest of the grid was business as usual, and it was actaually a great race. As always I am excited for the next and given this is being written at the end of the summer break, I can say we are so back and the rest of this season will be great.
